What we collect?

Neon Bioworks collects information to provide better user experience to all our users — from offering easier checkout option like Apple Pay to figuring out more complex things like what kind of products visitors might like. This means needing to collect and store information that uniquely identifies visitors and customers tied to their:

  • Basic contact information like name, email and phone;
  • Social media account(s) like Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest;
  • Location and Network-based information like their country, city, and internet speed;
  • Device-based information like – what browser, application and device are visitors using to access our site or services;
  • Session-based information like – has any visitor accessed our site before, on what part of page do they move their mouse over, where do they click, etcetera;
  • Payment-related information;
  • Behavioral information – visitor’s personal habits, interests, hobbies. We source this information from publicly available sources and if you consent, through your social media accounts.

When you create an account on Neon Bioworks, you provide us with personal information that can include your name, email, phone and a password. You can also choose to add payment information to your account to make a purchase. If you access our site or engage with us while being signed into Google, Facebook, Apple or any known social media service(s), we will also collect additional information made available to us by such services. Without your specific authorization, this information may only include whether you're using an Apple device, have a Google account, your name and profile picture if you've signed into Facebook. With your consent this can extend to your birthdate, your workplace related details, your personal interests, affiliated entities, etcetera. Collectively, we treat this as personal information.

Why do we collect your personal information?

Provide our services

For example, by making it easier for users to search for an artwork they have in mind. Sometimes, you may have a vague idea of what you're looking for but may not know the right term to describe it. We use your information to understand and process terms (including misspelled terms) you search for in order to return suggestions that might interest you.

Provide personalized recommendations and serve ads

We use the information we collect to customize our services for you, including providing recommendations, personalized content.

Communicate with you

We use information we collect, like your email address and phone, to interact with you directly. For example, we may send you an OTP (One-Time-Password) so that you can log in to your account, when you're to a purchase, and notify you when your order is shipped or delivered. We may also let you know about upcoming changes, improvements to our services or simply ask for your feedback on services we provide to you.

To facilitate your purchases

This includes processing your order and payment, shipping the order, providing you with technical support and assistance, and communicating with you about the purchase by email and phone. For example, we will contact you by phone, or email to update you of the arrival of the package, to address any issues with the order, or to answer any questions you may have about your order.

To send you promotional communications

We will contact you by email and phone (including push notifications) to inform you about products, services, and promotions that we think will be of interest to you.

Updating your information

When you’re signed in, you can always review and update information by visiting 'Account' page. For example, to change your shipping address all you must do is login to your account, visit 'Account' page and then update your shipping address.

Exporting or deleting your information

If EU data protection or similar personal information processing laws apply to our processing of your information, you are entitled by law to access, correct, amend, or delete personal information about you that we hold. A list of these rights is below. You can access or delete your information by submitting this online request form or by contacting us at privacy@neonbioworks.com. We may require you to send additional information such as government issued Photo-ID to verify your identity before processing your request. If your request is denied, individuals in the EU have the right to complain as outlined in Dispute resolution section. A list of your rights is below:

  • Right of access – the right to request a copy of the information that we hold about you.
  • Right of rectification – the right to correct data that we hold about you that is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Right to be erasure – in certain circumstances, you can ask for the data we hold about you to be erased from our records.
  • Right to restriction of processing – where certain conditions apply, you have a right to restrict the processing of your personal data.
  • Right of portability – the right to have the data we hold about you transferred to another organization.
  • Right to object – the right to object to certain types of processing, such as direct marketing.
  • Right to object to automated processing, including profiling – the right to not be subject to a decision based solely on automated decision making, including profiling, where the decision would have a legal effect on you or produce a similarly significant effect.

For how long we retain your information

Dispute Resolution

We are committed to resolve complaints about your privacy and our collection or use of your personal information. Please direct your inquiries or complaints to privacy@neonbioworks.com.

Notwithstanding the below, if you reside in the EU, in the event your concerns in connection with how we process your information are not addressed you can file a complaint with the data protection supervisory authority in the country of your residence. You and we agree that we will resolve any disputes between us through binding and final arbitration instead of through court proceedings. The arbitration will be heard and determined by a single arbitrator. The arbitrator's decision in any such arbitration will be final and binding upon the parties and may be enforced in any court of competent jurisdiction.
